Why do we use EQ-i 2.0®?

For us as a business and as individuals, EQ-i 2.0® is the only model that has taken the established principles of emotional intelligence and converted them into a definitive and practicable set of measures that can be worked on and developed to help people build and balance their EQ.
The EQ-i 2.0® model is generally regarded as the most robust and accurate way to measure EQ. It generates an overall EQ score and is based on 5 separate composites, each of which is made up of 3 subscales as per the diagram.
Self Perception is made up of self-regard, self-actualisation and emotional self-awareness. It focuses on your “inner self” and determines how in touch with your feelings you are, how good you feel about yourself and about what you’re doing in life. It is about accepting yourself for who you are, not necessarily who you want to be.
Self Expression deals with emotional expression, assertiveness and independence. It captures your ability to communicate your feelings constructively using both verbal and non-verbal skills and deals with your ability to make decisions without undue input or influence from others.
Interpersonal covers people skills including interpersonal relationships, empathy and social responsibility. People with good levels of interpersonal skills tend to be responsible and dependable and they create and develop sound relationships based on trust and reliability.
Decision Making focuses on problem solving, reality testing and impulse control. It measures an individual’s ability to use their emotions positively to help them make the right decisions and the best choices. Good skills in the area will allow people to create solid solutions, based on reality and avoid disruptive impulses.
Stress Management incorporates flexibility, stress tolerance and optimism. The pace of change means that successful people are going to have to remain calm under pressure, accept that things are going to change (perhaps faster than they would like) and remain confident that they will still achieve the success they desire.
One of the great things about the EQ-i 2.0® model is that it is dynamic and it measures an individual’s EQ at any given time and can therefore demonstrate any changes that occur over time.
We use this tool as the benchmark for all of our engagements and we base every individuals requirements on the results that they generate.
